talk+water: James Perry

In this conversation, Texas+Water Editor-in-Chief Dr. Todd Votteler talks with James Perry, Executive Vice President of the EarthWorks Division of ASTERRA, about innovative remote sensing technologies to support water management.

Perry has spent over 30 years driving disruptive innovation. In both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, James’ key mission is market adoption and achieving a deeper foothold in new markets. Perry has served as the Executive Vice President of Business Development for Utilities at ASTERRA since 2016. He drove production application into the Utility Water space by taking a nascent technology, pulling a product offering together, and running market interviews into a go-to-market strategy.

Using his extensive data analytics background and remote sensing capabilities, water utilities (public and private) were driven by a compelling set of questions. How does this save money, make money, or drive regulatory compliance? The answer to all is to look at the water utility ecosystem (either flawed or broken) in order to drive a clear impact on efficiencies and a value proposition with the ability to answer these three key questions. This has generated over 90 projects in the United States and saved billions of gallons of water and the associated electrical energy used to support utilities.
